As a local of 22 years, Kylie has worked at Baker’s Delight for the past 6 years, and it’s something her everyday customers are grateful for. As a passionate local, she is certainly all for her community. “I love the beautiful locals that come to me every day for their fresh products. You get to know them, their stories, and their order off by heart. They make my early mornings, worth it.”
Kylie shared one of her favourite parts of the day, “I love preparing my regular’s orders, even before they arrive. It’s just that extra bit of personalised service and it truly does go a long way.”
Another great trait of Kylie’s is her love of recommending some of her favourite products to customers who need a little extra assistance, “our beautiful Cape Seed Loaf is definitely our best seller. Each morning, I’ll always ensure we have plenty of these ready for our customers. It’s something I always recommend.”
“I also love sharing with the children who visit the store, the gorgeous hot cross buns around Easter. The fact that it makes their day, makes mine!”
General comradery of fellow shopkeepers and other centre employees is something very important to Kylie. Her early starts mean she gets to spend quiet moments, building connections with other centre staff who arrive in the morning. This adds to the sense of community she feels about the centre as a whole and another reason she enjoys working at Baker’s Delight Nepean Village.
Kylie will tell you that during her early mornings over the years, what the team at Baker’s Delight love most, are the lifelong friends they make with each other and their loyal customers. “Over the past 6 years I’ve worked with a lot of incredible people, both staff, and some of my regular customers. We still keep in contact, and I just love that.”
Working in a centre like Nepean Village, Kylie believes, definitely adds to her customer’s shopping experience. “The fact that our store is conveniently located close to Coles and Kmart is definitely a great help to our customers, and to ourselves as employees.”
